ROCK HALL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING REPORT June 7, 2017

TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS

Hearings conducted on: (1) Ordinance 2017-05 (install cell phone access boosters within Town limits) and (2) Ordinance 2017-06 (FY2018 Town Budget).

 SPECIAL MEETING TO SET TAX RATE

Start Time: 7:57 p.m.

Roll Call: Jones, Kuechler, Andrews, Nesspor, Fithian, Thomas, Loller

ACTIONS TAKEN BY VOTE TO:

  1. Keep Town tax rate at .032 per $100 of assessed value for FY2018. (Aye: Jones, Kuechler, Nesspor. Nay: Andrews)

REGULAR MEETING

Start Time: 8:00 p.m.

 ACTIONS TAKEN BY VOTE TO:

  1. Approve meeting agenda.
  2. Approve minutes for four prior meetings and three hearings, April 13-May 18.
  3. Adopt Ordinance 2017-05.
  4. Adopt FY2018 Town budget. (Yea: Jones, Kuechler, Nesspor. Nay: Andrews.)
  5. Accept bid from Bramble for “Catholic Avenue project.”
  6. Adjourn meeting at 9:50 p.m.

ACTIONS TAKEN WITHOUT VOTE TO:

  1. Community Spirit Award to board and volunteers of Kent County Learning Center.
  2. No workshop meeting scheduled for July.

OTHER

  1. Report presented on status of grants received, grants applied for, and grant applications in progress.
  2. Project to demolish warehouse at 21260 Rock Hall Ave. proceeding.
  3. Rock Hall is entered in Reader’s Digest “America’s Nicest Town” contest.
  4. Council, Greater Rock Hall Business Association, owner to discuss status/future of Old Oars Inn on Main St.
  5. Trams carried 900 people over Memorial Day weekend.
  6. William Brawner named as Grand Marshall for July 4 parade.
